Rogue’s Hollow Festival was an amazing display of small town enthusiasm, history and flair that brought jollity to the village of Doylestown both Friday evening and all day Saturday, August 3rd and 4th, 2007. Music, games, 50/50 raffles, competitions of various sorts, historic demonstrations and an endless supply of food were all elements of this year’s festivals success.

The Rogues’ Hallow event, which is rooted deep in local history, featured civil war reenactments including a canon firing demonstration by men wearing both union and confederate uniforms. Also present were The Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic Inc. presenting themselves at this year’s event in fashions reminiscent of traditional civil war era attire.

A classic car and motorcycle show brought participants and spectators from far and wide. This lineup of vehicles ranged from the earliest production vehicles to a car offering the latest fuel efficiency. Car clubs including the Orrville knights, Buckeye Ramblin’ Rods as well as other groups represented themselves.

Musical entertainers filled the air with a multitude of styles including country music from a local, Kristen Kukta, who recently transplanted to Nashville, Tennessee to record an album, a dulcimer/string folk music group know as the Mixed Up Strings, 50’s and 60’s rock and roll music from Rudy and the Illusions, DJ Frog and the Hippy and a polka band known as the Barberton Button Box Club.

Competitions, such as “Water Ball”, a game that firefighters use their fire hose wielding capabilities to move a ball type object into their opponent’s side using only water spray, took place. A garden tractor pull also attracted many onlookers as competitors strived to drag a weighted sled the greatest distance with their enhanced lawnmowers.
